M. Jerry Mariano, M.D.

M. Jerry Mariano, M.D., has a comprehensive ophthalmology practice treating diseases of the eye, including eye surgery and laser eye surgery. He is certified on the VISX excimer laser for laser refractive procedures. He also has specialized training in glaucoma and is able to provide advanced glaucoma treatment and surgery. Dr. Mariano has hospital privileges at the Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids, Deer River Hospital, and Fairview University Medical Center – Mesabi in Hibbing.

He grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, where his father was also an eye surgeon. He later attended Carleton College of Northfield, Minnesota, where he graduated cum laude. He went to medical school at the University of North Dakota, followed by internship training at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Dr. Mariano completed his ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. During his final year of residency, he served as the chief resident. Due to an interest in treating glaucoma, he completed additional fellowship training in glaucoma at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Mariano is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive surgeons. He is also a member of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Mariano joined the Bonner Eye Clinic in 2001. He sees patients at both the Grand Rapids and Hibbing offices.

Dr. Mariano has performed over 1,000 refractive procedures including LASIK, Photorefractive Keratectomy, cataract surgery, ReZoom multifocal lenses and Intracorneal collamer lenses (ICL’s).

Michael Young, O.D.

Growing up in Grand RapidsDr. Young picture (1) provided Dr. Young with much appreciation for our community in northern Minnesota. By recently joining the Bonner Eye Clinic, he is excited at the opportunity to provide eye care services in northern Minnesota. After graduating from GRHS in 2002, he graduated from St. John’s University and then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR in 2011. His training included externships in Portland, OR, the Southern Oregon White City VA outpatient clinic, private practice in Long Beach, WA, and the Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, HI. Prior to joining Bonner Eye Clinic, he has gained professional experience working in Hawaii and Minneapolis in private practice.

Dr. Young appreciates the northern Minnesota lifestyle, and like most people, enjoys a variety of outdoor activities our area offers. In recent years, his educational training and professional work naturally permitted him to explore the ocean through surfing, diving, and fishing. He is excited to be home and continue to explore what MN offers us through its unique woods and fresh water.

Amy Haugeberg, O.D.

Dr. Haugeberg grew up in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota where she fell in love with the lakes country lifestyle. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 2009, and then pursued her undergraduate degree at Valley City State University where she met her husband, Benjamin. Over the next four years, she lived in Northeast Oklahoma earning her Doctorate in Optometry at the Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, OK. Her training included rotations at many of the Cherokee Nation Rural Eye Clinics and a private practice setting in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After the long and hot Oklahoma summers, she and her husband are excited to be back closer to home where they can enjoy lake life, fishing and hiking with their black lab, Harley.
